Musical Director & Conductor - Thomas Hawkes
Thomas is currently in his third year studying Music at the university of York. Previous projects have included Acis and Galatea and more recently Act 1 of Paradise Moscow as part of the music department’s practical project. He has also conducted his own choir and frequently accompanies performers for the UoY Opera Society as well as other performances. He currently conducts as part of The Chimera Ensemble and the University of York Concert Band. Producer - Amy Pezet
Amy is a first study singer studying music at the University of York, after receiving straight As in her A level exams. Amy has past experience on the stage, performing in a wide variety of theatre productions both on and off the stage. Her role as the Technical Projection and Lighting Designer of the show Paradise Moscow has been the highlight of her production experience so far. Amy is also set to be Stage Manager for the Opera Soc Spring Term production of Dido and Aeneas as well as being the MD for Pant soc’s performance of Aladdin. Though Amy is new to the world of producing she is eager to get involved in this opera and approaches the challenge it with both enthusiasm and excitement. Chorus Master/Assistant Director – Emily Hodkinson
Emily is a second year Music student. She has sung with The 24, University of York Chamber Choir, The Willow Consort and Yorkshire Bach Choir. During her gap year she held a choral scholarship at St Barnabas Cathedral, Nottingham. Emily has been involved in a number of operas as both a lead and chorus member, including both Opera Society 2014-2015 productions. She is used to working with groups of people as a Guide Leader and through educational workshops and community work Assistant Musical Director - Toby Randall-Paley
Toby is a first year music student at the University of York, and as a first study pianist, has had a lot of experience accompanying soloists/ensembles as well as playing in pit bands and orchestras. He has also sung with the National Youth Choir of Great Britain for the past two years, and is aspiring to a choral scholarship to the Minster in the years to come. Toby has previously been the Musical Director for a production of ‘Oliver!’ and the Assistant Musical Director for ‘Guys and Dolls’. He hopes to pursue his love of musical theatre and opera with a career of Musical Directing in the West End. |
Marketing – Sian Haines
As a first study singer, Sian achieved her ATCL Performance Diploma in November 2012 and studied at Hereford Sixth Form College under the direction of Aryan Arji. Here she was a choral scholar and sang weekly evensong services in Hereford Cathedral as well as BBC broadcasts, national and international tours and on recordings with Priory Records. In 2012, Sian was appointed as the Administrative Officer for Music with The Academia Musica Choir and Orchestra, a position she held until July 2014. This artist management post included marketing and events management for both local and national concert series, broadcasts, recordings and tours. She also worked in collaboration with Directors of Music at Oxford and Cambridge Universities, as well as coordinating the everyday running of an A-Level Music Department. Sian is now studying in her second year of the BA Music course at The University of York and aspires to sing as a soloist in oratorios and manage large scale concerts and productions. |
